Mixing combines all individual tracks (vocals, drums, bass, instruments) into a single cohesive stereo track. Mastering takes the final stereo mix and prepares it for distribution — optimizing loudness, EQ, and ensuring it meets streaming platform standards. Most professional releases require both.

Up to 5 people total, including yourself as the main artist. We keep sessions intentionally tight — not because of space, but because the best records get made in focused environments. Every major session you've heard on a platinum record had a small, trusted circle in the room. Too many voices pulling in different directions slows the creative process and dilutes the energy. Bring your producer, your hype person, your right hand — just keep it to the people who are actually there to work.

Come with your lyrics memorized, a reference track of the sound you're going for, and any beats or instrumentals saved offline — not just on YouTube. Wear comfortable clothes, avoid heavy cologne or perfume (it affects mic performance in a sealed room), and bring water. The more prepared you are before you walk in, the more of your session time goes toward recording instead of rehearsing.

A focused artist can track a full song — vocals, ad-libs, and doubles — in 2 to 4 hours. Production and arrangement add time depending on complexity. Mixing typically takes 4 to 8 hours per song at a professional level. Mastering is usually 1 to 2 hours. Budget a full day if you want tracking, mixing, and mastering done in one session.

Yes. For projects recorded elsewhere, Lunar Mansion offers mixing, mastering, and audiobook post-production. In-person recording remains the studio's primary focus.

Export each instrument and vocal as a separate audio file starting from bar 1, beat 1 — all at the same sample rate and bit depth (48kHz / 24-bit preferred). Label everything clearly: Lead Vox, 808, Snare, etc. Bounce without any master bus processing so the mix engineer has a clean canvas. Include a rough mix as a reference. Zip everything and send it over — we'll handle the rest.

WAV is preferred because it preserves the full audio quality of your recording. We also accept AIFF and MP3 files when WAV is not available, although MP3 is a compressed format and is not optimal for professional mixing or mastering. For the best results, send consolidated 24-bit / 48kHz WAV files with no processing on the master bus.
