Matt O'Neil

Matt O'Neil started playing piano at age five — his mom was his first teacher. By ten he had picked up guitar, and by fifteen he was playing drums in a punk rock band, performing live shows before he ever graduated high school. Growing up partly in Germany, he was exposed to diverse cultures and musical traditions from an early age that would later shape his instinctive, cross-genre approach to production.

After graduating from Berklee College of Music with a degree in Music Production and Engineering, Matt worked in studios and live sound venues across Boston, New York, and Los Angeles before settling in Houston, TX — where he built a decade-long career at the intersection of technical mastery and creative vision.

Today Matt is a 16× Platinum and 4× Gold certified audio engineer, music producer, and songwriter. His credits span Travis Scott, Swae Lee, Don Toliver, NLE Choppa, NBA YoungBoy, Odetari, and dozens more — accumulating over 20 billion streams worldwide. His Grammy nomination stands as recognition of the highest level of craft in the industry.

In 2020, Matt founded Lunar Mansion Studios to bring major-label quality production to Houston's independent artist community. The studio is built around a professional-grade analog-digital hybrid signal chain, custom GIK acoustic treatments, and a workflow refined across thousands of sessions.

His philosophy is simple: "I don't believe in luck — I believe in energy." Every technical decision exists to serve the emotional impact of the music, not to showcase prowess. That musician-first mindset — rooted in years of playing guitar, bass, drums, piano, and more — is what sets his sessions apart.
